Drew Group’s Lagoon Main Beach Breaks Ground on Construction

 

Lagoon Main Beach has made a significant step forward in construction, with the bottoming out of the basement now complete by Hutchinson Builders.

High-density developments are essential for dwelling supply

The Gold Coast’s housing supply is expected to hit a wall in the next decade, according to the 2023 Gold Coast Dwelling Supply Study.

Key findings from the report show that the Gold Coast’s expansion area can likely only deliver 17,564 dwellings by 2041 – well short of the state’s target of 57,194. The Gold Coast’s expansion zone has also dropped 508 hectares since 2020, now sitting 19,953 hectares due to non-residential use.

“There is a genuine lack of stock in both the established and off-the-plan markets,” Jayde says.

 

“We currently have eleven projects under construction, representing $877 million of gross realisation, highlighting the fact that we specialise in ensuring projects flow through to construction in a market that is not without its challenges.”

With expansion for urban sprawl currently limited, the city will need to turn to unlocking more land and to density solutions to help meet supply. Units and apartments will continue to be a sound long-term investment for both owner occupiers and investors in a city where growth shows no signs of slowing, with Australians flocking to its desirable climate and lifestyle.
